During today’s Nintendo Direct, Capcom confirmed that several major entries from the Resident Evil series will be available on the new Nintendo Switch 2, bringing high-fidelity RE Engine titles to Nintendo’s latest hardware.
Key Titles Revealed
- Resident Evil 7: Biohazard – Gold Edition is confirmed for release on Switch 2, offering full game access with all downloadable content.
- Resident Evil Village – Gold Edition is also coming to Switch 2 with DLC bundled in.
- Most notably, the upcoming Resident Evil Requiem, also known as Resident Evil 9, will launch on February 27, 2026 across multiple platforms including Switch 2.
These announcements suggest Capcom is fully supporting Switch 2 with native ports, likely running directly on the console’s hardware rather than relying on cloud streaming methods used previously on the original Switch. This marks an important shift in how AAA survival horror games will function on Nintendo hardware going forward.
Resident Evil Requiem introduces a new protagonist, FBI agent Grace Ashcroft, investigating paranormal deaths in a haunted hotel. The story returns players to the ruins of Raccoon City, revisiting locales from previous RE installments.
