In an announcement that feels both long overdue and full of potential, Paramount and Activision have struck a deal to produce a live-action Call of Duty movie. The collaboration aims to expand the franchise’s reach beyond gaming while staying true to the heart of the series.

Under the new agreement, Paramount will develop, produce, and distribute the film, drawing on its experience with blockbusters like Top Gun: Maverick. According to the press release, the movie intends to “deliver on the hallmarks of what fans love about the iconic series, while boldly expanding the franchise to entirely new audiences.”

From Activision’s side, President Rob Kostich promises that the film will both “honor and expand upon what has made this franchise great in the first place.” Paramount’s CEO and Chairman, David Ellison, added that they will bring the same “disciplined, uncompromising commitment to excellence” to this project as they did in Top Gun: Maverick.

Details about the film’s narrative direction have not been revealed yet. Considering Call of Duty’s varied settings, from World War II to near-future conflicts, Paramount has many possible creative paths to explore.

While fans await more, Game Informer encourages readers to check out its preview of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and the cinematic reveal trailer set for November 14th, 2025.
