Microsoft used its Tokyo Game Show 2025 broadcast to lean hard into Japan, unveiling Forza Horizon 6 with a Japan setting, showing new details on Ninja Gaiden 4, pushing a Japan world update in Flight Simulator, and spotlighting dozens of partner titles from Asia and beyond.
Here’s a breakdown of everything revealed across Xbox’s 2025 TGS showcase:
Forza Horizon 6 Drives Into Japan
The keynote’s opening salvo: Forza Horizon 6, launching in 2026, will be based in Japan. The teaser trailer gave fans glimpses of Tokyo streets, mountainous roads, and cherry blossoms. The move fulfills long-running fan requests for a Japanese map, and signals that Xbox is serious about tapping into local flavor for its marquee franchises.
The reveal was complemented by an Xbox Wire deep dive into map design and cultural inspirations, teasing the next generation of driving in Asia.
Ninja Gaiden 4 Gets Sharpened
Team Ninja and PlatinumGames offered more meat on Ninja Gaiden 4’s combat and difficulty systems. The broadcast revealed scaling enemy placement, adjustable assists, and a fresh training mode to allow players to get up to speed on high-difficulty mechanics.
They also unveiled special controllers tied to the game (Design Lab and Elite variants) and confirmed the October 21st, 2025 release date across Xbox, PC, and PS5.
Flight Simulator, Japan World Update & More
Flying fans got their moment too. Microsoft Flight Simulator received World Update 20: Japan, adding 23 photogrammetry regions and major cities like Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, and Sapporo. The update also introduced five new detailed airports and 67 new points of interest, including Osaka Castle and Hiroshima landmarks.
Xbox also teased Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 maps set in Japan, Age of Mythology: Heavenly Spear missions inspired by Japanese mythos, and further expansions for Fallout 76 using fan-made Japanese-style C.A.M.P. builds.
Partner Spotlight: Asian & Global Studios
Partnerships took center stage. Highlights included:
- Gungrave Gore: Blood Heat — new world premiere demo.
- Romancing Saga 2: Revenge of the Seven — surprise release for Xbox.
- 007 First Light — new casting revealed (Gemma Chan as Selina Tan).

Hardware, Game Pass & Accessibility
- Xbox confirmed ROG Xbox Ally / Ally X handhelds would be playable on the show floor and available October 16.
- Many of the announced games will be part of Game Pass; Forza Horizon 6 is expected to be day-one on the service.
Xbox’s TGS 2025 presence delivered a clear message: Japan matters. The shift of Forza Horizon to a Japanese backdrop, deeper Ninja Gaiden gameplay reveals, and the expansive partner lineups all point to Microsoft positioning itself as a serious player in Asia’s gaming ecosystem. While some reveals were teasers rather than full reveals, the groundwork for 2026 and beyond is now visible, and many of those paths start in Japan.
