Red Dead Redemption is riding into new terrain. Rockstar Games announced today that the beloved Western adventure and its survival-horror expansion Undead Nightmare will launch on December 2, 2025 for a broad range of platforms including Netflix Games, iOS and Android devices, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.
This marks the game’s first official appearance on mobile platforms and through Netflix’s gaming catalog. Subscribers will be able to play via the Netflix Games app. Players who already own the game on older systems such as PS4, Nintendo Switch (original) or Xbox One will receive free digital upgrades to the new version. The next-gen console versions will support up to 4K resolution, HDR and a smoother 60 frames per second performance. A special mention was made of the Switch 2 version which reportedly includes mouse-control support along with high resolution and 60 fps.
Rockstar worked with developers Double Eleven and Cast Iron Games on these enhanced ports. The upgrades are designed to modernize the experience while preserving the original game’s story of John Marston’s quest for redemption. Save-data from previous versions can be carried over for PS5/PS4 and Switch 2 users, allowing fans to pick up where they left off.
This move also fits into a larger strategy from Rockstar: with Grand Theft Auto VI delayed, revitalizing one of their classic titles helps maintain engagement while fans await the next major release. By making Red Dead Redemption available across mobile, console and streaming platforms, Rockstar is betting on broad reach and accessibility.
