Jumanji 3 is officially on the way, and the first look at the film already tells you one thing. The gang is back, the world is louder, and the line between video game and real life is thinner than ever! Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan return to close out the modern trilogy, with production set to begin in November 2025 and the movie scheduled for theaters on December 11, 2026.

This time, the game world is not staying in its console. Early images show the characters dealing with creatures, terrain and game logic popping up in real world environments. It feels like the universe finally decided to flip the board upside down and see what happens. According to Johnson, this is the final film of the current arc, which adds a little more emotional weight behind all the chaos.

Visually, the movie walks a funny line. It is labeled as live action, but if you look at the early shots, a lot of it still looks like a cartoon with a Hollywood budget. The movements are larger than life, the landscapes look almost too perfect, and the action feels one step away from animated cutscene territory. That is not necessarily a bad thing. The Jumanji series has always been part comedy, part adventure and part absurdity. The stylized look fits the tone, even if it makes you question how “live” the action really is.

Behind the camera, Jake Kasdan returns as director with Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg co writing the script. The team describes this as a full circle moment that will wrap up the storyline that began in 2017. Hints suggest the movie may connect more directly to the original 1995 film and possibly bring the famous board game back into play. If the first two entries leaned into video game logic, this one seems ready to mix everything together.

The returning cast will once again play the avatars audiences know. There is also speculation that supporting characters from the previous films will make appearances. With this being the closing chapter, fans can expect a larger scale adventure, higher stakes and at least a few jokes about how many times these characters have survived a jungle they never asked to visit.

Jumanji 3 looks like it is holding onto the humor, the energy and the slightly chaotic personality that made the recent films work. If you enjoyed watching Kevin Hart complain about everything, Jack Black steal scenes without trying, and The Rock punch his way through physics, the final installment should scratch the same itch. Get ready for the dice to roll one last time.
