The hit video-game franchise Far Cry is headed to television thanks to a new series ordered by FX, with creator Noah Hawley—best known for Fargo—and actor-producer Rob Mac leading the project. The show will stream on Hulu in the U.S., and on Disney + internationally.
Hawley described the series as a perfect fit: “What I love about the Far Cry game franchise is it’s an anthology. Each game is a variation of a theme, the same way each season of Fargo is a variation on a theme.” Mac echoed that sense of opportunity, saying he was thrilled to work alongside Hawley and acknowledged that Ubisoft entrusted them with “one of the most iconic video-game worlds ever created.”
The new series will follow an anthology format, with each season set in a unique location, featuring new characters and storytelling arcs. This mirrors the game series’ structure, which has always centered on wild environments, dangerous antagonists and survival-driven plots. Disney’s FX division called the pairing of Hawley and Mac a strategic move to bring original, gripping action to the screen.
No release date has been announced yet, but this project marks one of the most ambitious video‐game-to-TV adaptations in recent years. Fans of the franchise, especially those drawn to its violent thrills and exotic settings, have reason to be excited.
