The Analogue 3D, a modern recreation of the classic console popularly known as the Nintendo 64 (N64), is getting a colorful throwback. Starting December 10, 2025, the console will return in a series of highly limited “Funtastic” editions — transparent and colored shells that hark back to the original N64’s early-2000s special releases. The new color lineup includes “fire,” “watermelon,” “grape,” “ice,” “jungle,” “clear,” and “smoke,” plus a solid gold edition inspired by a rare Toys “R” Us variant.

Each of these limited-run units will retail at $299 — a modest jump over the standard black and white versions — and will ship ahead of Christmas. Alongside the console, matching controllers from 8BitDo will also drop, offering a complete retro-revival bundle for fans and collectors.

What sets the Analogue 3D apart is that it isn’t just a cosmetic throwback. Behind the nostalgic design lies a modern, FPGA-based rebuild of the original N64 hardware. The console outputs to 4K via HDMI, remains region-free, and supports the full library of N64 cartridges with four controller ports — or wireless play with compatible controllers. Its built-in software handles everything from original-style display modes (to simulate CRT visuals) to modern conveniences like dual-band Wi-Fi and firmware updates.

With these new colorful editions, Analogue taps into the nostalgia of gamers who grew up with the translucent-shell N64s — bringing back not just the games, but the look, feel and spirit of that era. For many, this isn’t just a console: it’s a chance to relive childhood memories with modern hardware comforts. But because the editions are limited, demand will likely outpace supply as soon as the preorder window opens.
