Apple has introduced the iPhone 17 with several notable enhancements aimed at improving durability, display quality, processing power, and battery life.

Improved Front Protection

The device includes Ceramic Shield 2 on the front, which Apple says is tougher than any previous smartphone glass or glass-ceramic. It offers three times better scratch resistance and improved anti-reflection for reduced glare, making the front much more resilient during everyday use.

Bigger and Brighter Display

The iPhone 17 adopts a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR OLED with ProMotion technology, offering smoother visuals thanks to adaptive 120 Hz refresh. It also delivers up to 3× higher scratch resistance compared to prior models and enhances battery life thanks to its energy-efficient panel.

Performance Powerhouse

Under the hood, the A19 chip provides notably improved performance and efficiency. Apple markets the iPhone 17 as delivering more power for daily operations while maintaining all-day battery longevity. The standard model also starts with 256 GB of storage, double that of the iPhone 16’s entry-level tier.

Advanced Camera System

The upgraded rear camera is a 48 MP Dual Fusion system, delivering high-resolution photos with enhanced detail and low-light performance. The front camera upgrades to the Center Stage camera, offering a wider field of view and intelligent subject framing.

Design and Form Factor

Continuing Apple’s tradition of design refinement, the iPhone 17 stays sleek and functional, supporting MagSafe and Qi 2 wireless charging, USB-C fast charging, and maintaining the same water resistance and physical feel users expect from the iPhone line.

Launch Details

The device is available in five colors—black, lavender, mist blue, sage, and white. Preorders begin on September 12, with availability starting September 19.

“iPhone 17 is a big upgrade with powerful features that make iPhone even more useful in your day-to-day life,” said Kaiann Drance, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide iPhone Product Marketing. She cited the brighter display, increased scratch resistance, all-day battery life, A19 chip, the 48 MP camera, and Center Stage front camera as highlights.
