Apple revealed the iPhone Air, the company’s thinnest iPhone yet, at the September 9 event. The device measures 5.6 millimeters thick and weighs 165 grams. It sports a titanium frame, a Ceramic Shield back, and the new Ceramic Shield 2 on the front.

Ceramic Shield 2 improves on the original material introduced with the iPhone 12 by offering 3X better scratch resistance and stronger impact absorption. Apple says the use of ceramic crystals embedded in the glass matrix makes the surface harder than many metals, giving the iPhone Air both style and durability from every angle.

The 6.5-inch ProMotion OLED display delivers 120 hertz refresh rates with peak brightness reaching 3,000 nits. Inside, the phone runs on Apple’s latest A19 Pro chip and includes the new N1 networking chip, enabling Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, Thread, and improved connectivity.

Apple also introduced the C1X modem, its second-generation in-house 5G modem. The C1X is said to be up to twice as fast as the original C1 modem and deliver 30 percent lower power consumption, making iPhone Air one of the most efficient devices for mobile data. Although the C1X does not support mmWave 5G, Apple claims it surpasses the Qualcomm modem in last year’s iPhone 16 Pro in efficiency for sub-6 GHz performance.

Photography gets an upgrade with a 48 MP Dual Fusion rear camera and an 18 MP Center Stage front camera. Dual Capture allows recording with both front and rear cameras simultaneously. The iPhone Air runs iOS 26 featuring the new “Liquid Glass” interface and introduces styles like Vibrant and Bright.

Battery performance reaches 27 hours of video playback, and Apple offers a MagSafe battery pack that extends lifespan to 40 hours. Preorders start on September 12, with shipping expected on September 19. The base model begins at $999 for 256 GB of storage.
