Apple unveiled its new iPad Pro powered by the M5 chip on October 15, 2025, keeping its premium pricing at $999 for the 11-inch model and $1,299 for the 13-inch version. Preorders began immediately, with availability in stores starting October 22, 2025.
The M5 chip delivers a major leap in performance and efficiency. It features a 10-core CPU, a 10-core GPU with a Neural Accelerator in each core, and a faster 16-core Neural Engine. Apple reports up to 3.5 times faster AI processing compared to the M4 version and more than five times faster than the M1 model. It also provides 4× faster graphics for ray tracing, rendering, and 3D workflows, making the iPad Pro one of the most capable tablets ever produced.
Apple doubled storage read and write speeds and expanded unified memory bandwidth to over 150 GB/s. Base models with 256 GB and 512 GB of storage now start with 12 GB of unified memory, while higher-end options reach 24 GB. These updates provide noticeable performance improvements for professional tasks such as video editing, design work, and AI-based creative tools.
Connectivity also received a boost. The iPad Pro now includes Apple’s new N1 chip, bringing Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread support for smart devices. Cellular versions are equipped with the C1X modem, which delivers up to 50 percent faster data speeds and better efficiency than the previous generation.
The tablet keeps the Ultra Retina XDR display using OLED tandem technology and remains Apple’s thinnest design yet at 5.3 mm for the 11-inch model and 5.1 mm for the 13-inch model. It comes in Space Black and Silver finishes, matching the premium aesthetic of the MacBook Pro lineup.
John Ternus, Apple’s senior vice president of Hardware Engineering, said, “Powered by the next generation of Apple silicon, the new iPad Pro delivers our most advanced and versatile iPad experience yet. iPad Pro with M5 unlocks endless possibilities for creativity and productivity, with a huge leap in AI performance, a big boost in graphics, superfast wireless connectivity, and game-changing iPadOS 26 features. It pushes the boundaries of what iPad can do yet again.”
The iPad Pro ships with iPadOS 26, featuring expanded multitasking options, improved Apple Intelligence integration, and refined tools for professional workflows. With this release, Apple positions the iPad Pro as both a creative powerhouse and a viable alternative to a lightweight laptop for high-performance work on the go.
