In response to Microsoft’s recent price hike for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, GameStop has announced that it will continue selling one-month subscriptions at the pre-increase rate of $19.99 per month, both online and in its physical stores.

Microsoft raised the monthly cost of Game Pass Ultimate to $29.99, effective October 1st for new subscribers. Existing subscribers will see the higher rate billed beginning November 4th.

GameStop’s stance offers a temporary reprieve for gamers looking to maintain access under the old pricing, at least while stores still carry the older subscription codes or digital cards. Given that GameStop holds a substantial role in the gaming retail ecosystem, its decision signals a direct challenge to Microsoft’s new pricing structure.

Retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart also continue to list Game Pass Ultimate subscriptions at the former $19.99 rate. These listings are likely to persist until their existing stock is exhausted.
