Honor has officially launched the Magic V5 foldable smartphone in Western Europe after its initial release in China. The Ivory White model measures just 8.8 mm when folded and weighs a light 217 g, making it the thinnest inward‐folding phone on the market.

Despite its slim form factor, the Magic V5 includes a massive 5,820 mAh battery using new silicon-carbon technology for enhanced energy density. It also delivers rugged build quality, with IP58 and IP59 ratings, a steel hinge tested for 500 000 folds, and protective NanoCrystal Shield glass.

The phone runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, includes up to 16 GB of RAM, and features Google Gemini AI integration for tasks like transcription, translation, and on-device assistant tools. Its display setup includes a 7.95-inch inner screen and a 6.43-inch outer screen, both stylus-compatible and optimized for multitasking with features like Multi-Flex mode.

For photography, the Magic V5 delivers a powerful triple camera system: a 64 MP periscope telephoto lens, 50 MP main, and 50 MP ultrawide sensors. The AI-enhanced imaging engine adds tools like AI Super Zoom and Motion Sensing Capture.

Retail pricing places the device at £1 699.99 in the UK and €1 999 across Europe.

However, independent measurements suggest that the officially listed thickness may understate reality. In real-world tests, the Magic V5 measured around 4.47 mm when unfolded and 9.39 mm when folded—thicker than its rivals, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Oppo Find N5.
