Lenovo is preparing to unveil a new concept laptop called Project Pivo, and early details are already circulating. Well-known leaker Evan Blass posted images of the device that reveal a rotating display designed to pivot between standard landscape orientation and vertical portrait mode.
This flexibility could prove especially useful for developers previewing mobile applications, professionals working with spreadsheets or lengthy documents, and users who prefer vertical scrolling. Instead of relying on rollable or flexible panels, the laptop uses a traditional rigid screen mounted on a concealed hinge track, allowing it to swivel smoothly while maintaining a slim profile.
The concept aligns with Lenovo’s history of experimenting with unconventional designs, including laptops with transparent panels and models featuring rollable displays. Unlike those prototypes, Project Pivo focuses on practicality by giving users two distinct orientations in a single machine.
In portrait mode, the design creates additional vertical real estate, which could pair well with Lenovo’s Smart Connect software. This feature allows seamless integration between a laptop and smartphone, supporting file transfers and multi-device workflows.
The device is expected to appear at IFA 2025 in Berlin, one of the largest consumer tech trade shows of the year. Lenovo has not provided details on pricing or release, leaving it unclear whether Project Pivo will move beyond the prototype stage or remain a concept.
