Sony is releasing a new DualSense wireless controller, the Icon Blue Special Edition this October in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Chile. The controller’s design features layered blue tones and a glossy finish on the touchpad with PlayStation symbols, a visual nod to PlayStation’s design legacy.

Leo Cardoso, from Sony’s Color, Material, and Finish design team, explained:

“From the moment the console powers on and the DualSense controller lights up, that signature blue glow signals the start of something special. It’s the spark that draws you into new worlds and immersive gameplay. Inspired by PlayStation’s iconic shades of blue, this design captures the feeling of anticipation and wonder every time you pick up the controller. As a nod to our origins, we added Katakana characters on the back that spell our name the Japanese way: Pureisutēshon.”

The Icon Blue edition launches October 20th in the U.S. and Canada, and October 28th in Mexico and Chile. It will retail for $84.99 USD, $109.99 CAD, 1,899 MXN, and 93,490 CLP. It will be available on Walmart sites and at Walmart stores in those regions.

Alongside the controller, PlayStation is releasing themed merchandise inspired by its iconic games. Examples include an Astro Bot lunch box with a lenticular face, Twisted Metal Meltz collectible figures, a PlayStation jersey combining athletic style with gamer flair, backpack clips, and a mini backpack modeled after Ellie’s pack from The Last of Us.

This special edition is part of Sony’s ongoing effort to celebrate its heritage and strengthen its product line with collectible, themed hardware.
