At Meta Connect 2025, Meta announced the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2, the next generation of its everyday smart glasses. Designed to refine the formula set by the first generation, Gen 2 introduces longer battery life, improved video capture, and new AI features, while keeping the familiar Ray-Ban style frames.

Meta states that Gen 2 offers up to 8 hours of use, roughly double the endurance of the original model. The updated charging case extends that with up to 48 hours of reserve power, giving users nearly a full weekend without needing to plug in. Fast charging support allows the glasses to reach 50 percent power in about 20 minutes.

Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 features a 12-megapixel camera capable of recording 3K Ultra HD video at 30 frames per second. Additional capture modes include 1440p at 30 fps and 1200p at 60 fps, letting users balance quality and frame rate. Video clips can be recorded for up to three minutes at a time. Photos and videos can be stored on the glasses or shared directly to Meta apps.

The glasses also support the full suite of Meta AI features, including hands-free queries, real-time translation, and captioning. Two major software updates were also highlighted:

  • Conversation Focus: an upcoming feature designed to isolate the voice of the person you’re speaking with, filtering out background noise.
  • Expanded Live Translation: support now includes German and Portuguese, in addition to English, Spanish, and Italian.

These features reinforce the idea that these smart glasses act as a personal assistant you can wear.

They also retain the classic frame silhouette, including Wayfarer, Skyler, and Headliner. New seasonal colors are available at launch, alongside lens options like clear, sun, and transition lenses. Frame weight has been slightly reduced for comfort, with the tech integrated in a way that preserves Ray-Ban’s signature look.

Pricing & Availability

The glasses are priced starting at $379 USD, with the previous generation continuing at a lower price point of $299. Launch markets include the U.S., Canada, and Europe, with rollouts to additional countries following later in 2025.

Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 doesn’t attempt to be a radical redesign, but more of a steady upgrade. By improving battery life, adding sharper video capture, and introducing new AI tools, Meta has created a more reliable and capable pair of everyday smart glasses. For users not ready to step into full display-based eyewear, Gen 2 offers a more refined balance of function and style.
