Pop star Sabrina Carpenter has released the first teaser for her upcoming Saturday Night Live appearance, where she playfully adopts the persona of Sex and the City’s Carrie Bradshaw. In the short clip, she wanders backstage at 30 Rockefeller Plaza, responds to every inquiry as if it is an innuendo, and jokes about her height.
The promo opens with Carpenter strolling through the corridors of Studio 8H. When a crew member asks what she’s doing, she replies, “In these heels? Probably, like, 5’4″.” She later says, “New York is one big apple, and I’m taking my bite at Saturday Night Live.” The tone is lighthearted and self-aware, referencing both the charm of Carrie Bradshaw and the energy of hosting a live sketch show.
NBC confirms Carpenter will both host and perform on the October 18, 2025, episode of SNL. This marks her first time as host and her second time as musical guest. Previously, she appeared as musical guest in May 2024. The network notes that her dual role places her among a small number of artists who have handled both duties in one night.
Carpenter posted on Instagram after the announcement with a short caption:
“They’re gonna regret this.”
The post quickly went viral, with fans viewing it as a playful warning about the challenge of taking on double duty.
Hosting SNL is often seen as a major milestone. Doing both hosting and musical performance at once raises the stakes even higher. Past artists who did the same include Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, and Miley Cyrus, all of whom took on both roles at the height of their careers.
For Carpenter, this opportunity comes during a strong run. Her latest album Man’s Best Friend debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and she has been announced as a headliner for Coachella 2026. The SNL spotlight will likely boost her visibility and highlight her comfort with live performance.
Her SNL background adds to the excitement. In 2025’s SNL50 anniversary special, she opened the show with a duet alongside Paul Simon and appeared in a “Domingo” sketch cameo. She also made a surprise appearance during Quinta Brunson’s monologue in May, joining a comedic song about being “shorties” with Brunson and Dwyane Wade. Her willingness to joke about her height and image fits well with the Carrie Bradshaw-inspired promo.
The upcoming SNL season arrives with major cast changes. Several longtime members have left, and five new comedians are joining. As SNL returns on October 4, episodes hosted by Bad Bunny on October 4 and Amy Poehler on October 11 will lead into Carpenter’s October 18 performance. The refreshed lineup shows the show’s intent to balance new humor and familiar energy.
The Carrie Bradshaw teaser shows Carpenter leaning into humor and self-deprecation. It positions her as ready to take on the full SNL experience, from sketches to live comedy, and to show audiences a new side of her personality.
