Samsung Electronics America has introduced its first line of microSD Express cards, branded the P9 Express, designed specifically with next-generation gaming in mind. Available in 256 GB and 512 GB capacities, these cards aim to deliver significantly faster performance and greater durability for devices such as the Nintendo Switch 2.

Jim Kiczek, Vice President of Memory Marketing at Samsung Electronics America, stated that “with its high-speeds and enhanced reliability, SD Express technology is ushering in a new era of microSD performance, ideal for demanding professionals and immersive gaming experiences, especially on the Nintendo Switch 2.”

The P9 Express cards feature a maximum sequential read speed of up to 800 MB/s, utilizing the PCIe interface and NVMe protocol. According to Samsung, this makes them up to four times faster than conventional UHS-I microSD cards. Additionally, these cards support Host Memory Buffer (HMB) technology and Dynamic Thermal Guard (DTG) to manage heat and performance during sustained gaming sessions.

Samsung also engineered the cards for robustness and longevity. Each card includes “6-proof” durability features—resisting water immersion, extreme temperatures, X-ray exposure, magnetic fields, accidental drops, and wear-out. They come with a 3-year limited warranty and include access to Samsung’s Magician software for monitoring card health and authenticity.

Pricing begins at $54.99 for the 256 GB model and $99.99 for the 512 GB version. Cards are available now on Samsung.com and select retail channels.
