Apple TV+ comedy The Studio finished Emmy night with 12 total wins, the most ever by a comedy in a single season. The haul combined nine Creative Arts trophies with Primetime wins for Lead Actor, Writing, and Directing. The show closed the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards with 12 trophies, which is a new single-season high for a comedy. That total passes The Bear’s 2024 benchmark of 11.
How the 12 came together
Nine wins arrived earlier at the Creative Arts Emmys on September 6, where Apple confirmed victories that included Guest Actor for Bryan Cranston and a sweep of several below-the-line categories such as casting, production design, cinematography, picture editing, music supervision, sound editing, and sound mixing. Apple also noted that those nine constituted the most Creative Arts Emmys ever for a comedy in one cycle.
On the Primetime telecast, The Studio added three more in headline categories:
- Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for Seth Rogen. In his speech, he joked, “I’ve never won anything in my life,” while thanking collaborators and family.
- Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series for the team of Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Peter Huyck, Alex Gregory, and Frida Perez.
- Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series shared by Rogen and Goldberg.
The record crowns a season where The Studio surged from nominations to conversion. Apple had already flagged the series as the most-nominated freshman comedy in Emmy history with 23 nods, part of a company-record 81 nominations across Apple TV+. That early marker set expectations for a big night.
Between a dominant Creative Arts showing and key wins on the main broadcast, The Studio became the cycle’s defining comedy. The result confirms the series as Apple TV+’s new comedy flagship and signals that Television Academy voters responded to its blend of sharp satire and high craft.
