TiVo has officially exited the DVR hardware business, ending an era that lasted 26 years. As of October 1st, 2025, the company ceased selling DVR equipment and removed all hardware listings from its site.

The last model TiVo released was the TiVo Edge, launched in 2019. After the hardware inventory ran out, TiVo confirmed it currently manufactures no DVR devices. However, it pledged to continue supporting existing DVR users with software updates and service.

This shift comes amid a streaming-first television landscape, where cable and streaming platforms increasingly provide built-in DVR or cloud recording features. TiVo’s decision reflects that standalone DVRs have become less relevant.

Going forward, TiVo plans to focus on its software offerings—particularly TiVo OS, which integrates its user interface, recommendation engine, and content discovery tools. Those elements may live on through other devices like smart TVs or via licensing partnerships.
